This blog was started in May of 2008 after "Zombie" discovered Blogger.com and had a few things to say. The name "Gloomy Historian" reflected his studies as an historian at University and fondness for Edward Gibbon, Tacitus, Richard Hofstadter, and others who blazed the trail of doom and gloom for humanity. After a few unremarkable postings, Zombie passed administration of the site to me, the Kraken. I share his love of history and politics. Sure, we are ostensibly Democrats but labels do not reflect the despair felt by independent liberals today with any knowledge of American history.
The Kraken tries to use Facebook, and sometimes succeeds in making the darn thing work.
